May 23 - Our Origin Story

Every good character, be they hero or villain, has an origin story. This is ours.

It all began over a couple of glasses of Bombay Sapphire and Fever Tree Tonic.

After a couple of years of disconnect, life having gotten in the way, we went to the pub. Meeting for drinks at 5pm on Saturdays soon became a weekly ritual. Within a month we were all caught up on the past few years and it was as though we had never been apart.

So it was just another Saturday, reminiscing and talking nonsense, when the question was posed. “Do you want to write a story? We always said that we wanted to write one together.” And so it started.

Agreeing on the premise for the short story we were going to write together took very little time at all. It was decided by the end of the night. 20,000 words we said. Just a short one. Just to see what it would be like. We would write about two emissaries from warring kingdoms and their journeys.

Our Saturdays became writers meetings and 20,000 words was quickly surpassed. It wasn’t long before that short story expanded into a full novel, then a multi book series. The world has grown so much for us and we have fallen in love with so many of the characters that we will not be going anywhere anytime soon. This universe is so vast and keeps growing and we have so many more stories to tell when The Godless series concludes. So stick with us, we have so much goodness to come!
